Sea Shell Ruffle Doily (1940s–50s): vintage crochet pattern

A small round double-crochet doily with a shell-stitch ruffle in a contrasting colour. It measures about 8½ inches across including the ruffle in plain crochet cotton, or 9½ inches in the metallic version. Originally published as "The Sea Shell Ruffle" in Ruffled Doilies (Star Doily Book No. 143) by American Thread Company, it is now in the public domain.
