Tiny crochet whale keychain
This mini whale keychain is a tapered amigurumi body worked from head to tail in single crochet, with two small flukes sewn to the tail tip and a keyring threaded through the back. It uses under 20 yards of light yarn, a 2.75 mm hook and about an hour, finishing 3 inches long.

Materials
- DK / light weight (#3) cotton yarn in blue, about 18 yd / 16 m
- Black embroidery floss
- 2.75 mm (US C-2) crochet hook
- Keyring or lobster clasp with jump ring
- Small amount of fibrefill, stitch marker, tapestry needle

- Work in a continuous spiral.
- Embroider the eyes before closing — safety eyes are not recommended on keychains that get pulled.
Body
- Rnd 1: Make a magic ring, 6 sc in ring. (6)
- Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12)
- Rnd 3: *Sc in next st, inc; rep from * around. (18)
- Rnds 4–7: Sc in each st around. (18)
- Rnd 8: *Sc in next st, dec; rep from * around. (12)
- Embroider two small eyes between Rnds 4 and 5. Stuff the head lightly.
- Rnd 9: Sc in each st around. (12)
- Rnd 10: *Sc in next st, dec; rep from * around. (8)
- Rnds 11–12: Sc in each st around. (8) Add a little stuffing.
- Rnd 13: Dec around. (4) Fasten off and close the tail tip.
Flukes (make 2)
- Ch 5. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in last ch. (4) Fasten off with a tail.
Finishing
- Sew the dc end of each fluke to the tail tip, pointing outwards in a V.
- Thread a short length of yarn through Rnd 6 on the back, tie it into a secure loop and attach the keyring.

Use worsted yarn and a 3.5 mm hook with the same pattern; the whale will be about 4 in long.
