Soft V-stitch crochet baby blanket
This baby blanket uses the V-stitch, a double crochet, chain one and double crochet worked into one space, which drapes well and grows quickly in soft DK yarn. The finished blanket is about 33 by 36 inches with a two-round single crochet and crab stitch border that stops the edges curling.

What yarn is safest for a baby blanket?
Choose machine-washable yarn that does not shed. Soft acrylic, cotton and cotton blends are practical; avoid mohair, fuzzy novelty yarn and loose loops.
How do I change the width?
Chain a multiple of 3, plus 7. Every 3 extra chains adds one V-stitch, about 0.8 in (2 cm) of width.
