Skeins, Yards, Metres and Grams Converter
A skein to yardage converter turns skeins into total yards, metres and grams using the numbers on the yarn label. It also converts a leftover ball’s weight in grams into yards remaining, which is the easiest way to know whether scraps are enough for a small crochet project.

How do I convert grams of yarn to yards?
Divide the weight of your yarn by the skein weight on the label, then multiply by the label yardage. For example, 37 g of a yarn labelled 364 yd per 198 g is about 68 yards.

Frequently asked questions
Why don’t all skeins weigh the same?
Brands wind skeins by weight or length. Always use the label figures for your yarn.
Does the ball band include the core or paper?
Weigh without the label; cardboard cores should be removed or subtracted.
Are the results exact?
The unit conversions are exact; converting grams to yards assumes the yarn is evenly spun.
