Bright Cluster Chair Set (1949): vintage crochet pattern
A chair back of 35 joined two-inch cluster motifs and two arm pieces of 12 motifs each. The chair back measures 10 × 14 inches and each arm piece 6 × 8 inches. Originally published as "Bright Cluster" in Fine Crochet and Tatting by The Spool Cotton Company in 1949, it is now in the public domain.

- Tapestry needle, rustproof pins and starch for blocking
- Hook: Start with a 1.25 mm steel hook for size 30 thread and change size so one motif measures 2 inches square (the printed hook is a No. 10 steel).

Chair Back
- First Motif.... Starting at center, ch 16. Join with sl st to form ring.
- Rnd 1: Ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make 2 tr in ring, yo and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made); (ch 5, make 3-tr cluster in ring) 11 times; ch 2, dc in tip of first cluster made.
- Rnd 2: Sc in loop formed by dc, ch 4, sc in next loop, * ch 15, sc in next loop, (ch 4, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around. Sl st in first sc made.
- Rnd 3: * In next ch-15 loop make (cluster, ch 5) 7 times and cluster; skip 1 sc, sl st in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join and fasten off.
